Welcome to Birmingham Canoe Club (UK).  We’re a small, friendly, supportive community, ready to help you safely on your exciting journey into paddlesports with the help of our experienced members and British Canoeing-qualified coaches. The club was established in 1953, which means we celebrated a big birthday in 2023 - see what we got up to on our 70th Birthday paddle.

We welcome members of all ages (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult) and all abilities - whether you’re an experienced paddler or have never paddled in your life. Our priority is your safety as we help you to build on your skills at your own pace and grow your confidence. You’ll start off in the pool (or the reservoir, depending on what time of year you join) and progress onto moving water on our many club trips.

Many of our more experienced members have their own boats and gear, but we have a small fleet of kayaks and canoes, paddles and safety equipment you are free to use at the weekly club sessions, and that can be hired out for a small fee for trips. On our trips, we paddle a variety of waterways from lakes, canals and flat rivers to white water courses and seas. We also love to camp!

Paddlesports are not only a way to get physically active, but they also have huge advantages for mental health and wellbeing. It’s a brilliant way to increase your confidence, to try something you’ve never done before, to get out into nature and to be part of a fantastically supportive community. We love life, we love to laugh and we can’t wait to welcome you!

Meet The Committee

The Canoe Club Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the club. From organising events to managing finances, the committee members work tirelessly to provide a great experience for all members. Without their dedication and hard work, the club wouldn't be possible.
